Earlier this school year, my art teacher showed the class a really interesting craft called a visual diary. A visual diary is something anyone can do since it is a piece of art that talks about the person who makes it.
In the visual diary, we needed to put some things inside for the teacher to grade our work. Following were the requirements:
- 2 personal memories drawing onto small paper
- a self- portrait on a larger paper
- 2 collages on large paper
- a cut out paper which can be folded in a specific way
- a decorated outside of the book
Here is the final result:

The drawings and the collages outside of the self-portrait show things that represent me, how I think, or how I create. I did the self-portrait with a creative change by adding two styles of art instead of one: realistic and anime style.
The dinosaur picture is about my first time watching Jurassic Park, my favourite movie. The drawing on the bottom right resembles a Japanese comic book strip called manga. The story is about how a guy grows a tree using magic.
The collages are pieces about cool things I like. The one on the bottom left is about things that go through my mind when I draw, and the one adjacent to it is a scene showing the result of all those thoughts.
This work took a lot of time but was a fun project; I know it was worth the effort!
