• Recently in my art course, we had a project which turned out to be very interesting. We learned about mosaics, a form of art which involves cutting glass and arranging then to form beautiful patterns.

This project requires us to use a large object, and transform it using carefully cut glass. When I was thinking of a project design, I believed that the best patterns, and the most flashy colours were ones, from a show I enjoy called Jojo’s Bizzare Adventures.

This art piece has two sides to it:

    • One side is of a purple pattern and clear circle with wings around it, all found within a yellow background
    • The other side is much simpler, with my attempt at purple engravings close to the edge, and a beautiful blue backdrop.

This art piece was very time consuming but it is very majestic when a candle is inside of it:

I was very happy with how it turned out and I hope I can make more projects like these!

  • On my brother’s birthday, we got a Nintendo switch. With the console, we also got a game, Mario Kart 8 deluxe, a racing game for the whole family to enjoy.

The game has very simple mechanics, very cool characters, and beautiful racetracks to appeal to everyone’s eyes. The group of characters that people can choose from are all from other Nintendo branded games that fans love, such as Zelda, Splatoon and of course, the Mario franchise.

The game has many tracks to choose from, with some being brand new and others being from older consoles which many fans have really enjoyed playing on. The old tracks often get re-modelled to be more clean and visually fitting for advanced game graphics.

To start playing the game, you first pick if you are playing single player, multiplayer or play online. Then you have to pick grand prix for the casual races, choose a speed on how fast you want the Karts to move. This is called cc and there are 4 options – 50, 100, 150 and 200; 50 being the slowest and 200 being the fastest. You have to customize your Kart with different parts to make it look cool and also change the stats for the game. Finally you choose a group of racetracks which you want to race with and click start to get going.

Some tips to help you race better:

    • Know the racetracks (where to turn, where the shortcuts are etc)
    • Use the boxes to get items (gives you an advantage when racing)
    • Collect coins to move faster and get more parts for Kart customization
    • Jumping on ramps will make you go faster
    • Drifting on turns will also give you a small boost in speed

That’s all about Mario Kart for now. Happy racing!

  • For the past few months, I have been brainstorming a new idea for an art piece, during that time I had sketched out many ideas, but one stood out to me, a dragon. As a child, I loved reptilian creatures and it always amazed me when I learned new things about these creatures whether these animals were real or mythical.

This art piece below is called the Son of the Seas. It focuses on a large Japanese styled dragon rising from the waters during a sunset, in which the dragon shows a graceful and gentle nature.

This painting is a mixed media. I used Prismacolor pencils which used to be my only medium for a long time. Now, I have a new addition, Watercolour paints . Watercolour is a type of paint which works best with proper control of water. I bought myself new supplies to properly adjust to the new medium, including Watercolour papers, new paint brushes and a new eraser to help with details.

I have learned a lot from this art piece , including new techniques, how to fix mistakes and more about how to make something stand out more. I hope this painting brings as much joy to you as it does for me!

  • We visited Chicago over the winter break and had a lot of fun. We came to visit family for Christmas and the New Year. We got to see our aunt, uncle, grandparents and baby cousin.

Even though our family was very excited to see everyone, my siblings and I were most excited to see the family dog Louis or Louie for short.

Louie is a mix of a beagle and pointer dog, and he is roughly 7-8 years old. He is a medium-sized dog with a beautiful coat of white fur, large black spots, and a short tail.

He is very energetic, always jumping and barking everywhere, and is occasionally found lying down and sleeping around the house. He loves when we play around. He tries to protect us when we fight by barking very loudly. It’s like he’s trying to tell us to stop! One thing that we both love is food. He will watch us eat and try and get us to feed him. Also, when someone is cooking, Louie is always around the kitchen ready to snack!

We all love Louie, and I hope you will love him as much as we do.

  • Earlier this school year, my art teacher showed the class a really interesting craft called a visual diary. A visual diary is something anyone can do since it is a piece of art that talks about the person who makes it.

In the visual diary, we needed to put some things inside for the teacher to grade our work. Following were the requirements:

    • 2 personal memories drawing onto small paper
    • a self- portrait on a larger paper
    • 2 collages on large paper
    • a cut out paper which can be folded in a specific way
    • a decorated outside of the book

    Here is the final result:

The drawings and the collages outside of the self-portrait show things that represent me, how I think, or how I create. I did the self-portrait with a creative change by adding two styles of art instead of one: realistic and anime style.

The dinosaur picture is about my first time watching Jurassic Park, my favourite movie. The drawing on the bottom right resembles a Japanese comic book strip called manga. The story is about how a guy grows a tree using magic.

The collages are pieces about cool things I like. The one on the bottom left is about things that go through my mind when I draw, and the one adjacent to it is a scene showing the result of all those thoughts.

This work took a lot of time but was a fun project; I know it was worth the effort!

  • I wish everyone a Happy New Year! 2023 has been amazing as it is, and I am excited for what 2024 will bring for us all.

In the new year, I have set a couple of reachable goals for me to do so I can become a better person.

    I have a few resolutions for 2024.

    • Improve my website
    • Make my art even better
    • Try new things
    • Work harder in school
    • Keep being a good person to others

Our family had a great winter break in Chicago, and we hope to celebrate again with everyone!

  • In my art class at school, I learned about different Elements and Principles of art and how we can combine them to make art look better.

The ask was to draw a person, incorporating the Elements and Principles of art. I chose to draw Chris Pratt, one of my favourite actors. The sketch is divided into nine squares containing one element and one principle to show how they work together.

This one took a lot of time and effort.

    Presenting, Da wae of Pratt:

I had a lot of fun in the art class. Super excited to learn more.

  • I was browsing my phone yesterday when I came across videos of artists who have done cool drawings of different anime characters. Inspired by this, I drew a character from one of my favourite animes: Chainsaw Man.

I sketched an image onto grey paper, which I shaded and added highlights to. I added a glow in its eye to make the drawing pop out more. Here is the picture:

    I hope you like it.

  • I have been watching a lot of anime recently. I decided to draw one of my favourite characters from the Naruto anime series, Itachi Uchiha.

Itachi is a very cool character with different abilities.

This drawing took a lot of effort, especially the background. I really enjoyed Naruto and its sequel Naruto Shippuden. It is a must watch if you enjoy action shows.

  • As I was thinking about ideas for another drawing, I realized it had been long since I had used watercolours.

The artwork below is about a massive mythical crocodile whose remains shaped the land it died. Life grew on top of it and over the canyon it had destroyed.

I used water colour and colour pencils to complete this piece. Let me know if you like this.
